Dickinson State Men’s basketball Coach Justin Wetzel has announced the hiring of assistant coach Jaxon Myaer. Myaer of Salt Lake City UT is a former starter at NCAA Division I Utah State and was an All-Conference player at the NCAA DII level (Montana State University Billings). In his time at Utah State under legendary coach Stew Morrill, Myaer played a vital role in the Aggies success starting as a freshman in 6 games and serving as a quality backup point guard helping Utah State to 3 WAC Conference championships, playing in the NCAA DI tournament 2 times.

After his sophomore season Myaer transferred to Montana State University Billings where he played for current Dickinson State Head Coach Justin Wetzel who at the time was the Associate Head Coach at Montana State Billings. In his final two seasons at MSUB Myaer started every game, was named an all-conference selection twice and led the Yellowjackets to a Conference Championship and NCAA DII national tournament.

Prior to his collegiate success Myaer was a three sport star at Judge Memorial High School in Salt Lake City, playing in 3 state championships games his senior year (Football, Basketball, and Baseball) earning all-state honors in all three sports in addition to being named the 3A state basketball player of the year.

“Jaxon is one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached at any level, he wasn’t the biggest, fastest, or most athletic guard on the court but he is competitor and winner period. You do not win 4 NCAA conference championships and go to 3 NCAA national tournaments in your college career by accident. I trust him and believe in him greatly” Stated Coach Wetzel

Coach Myaer will be replacing former assistant Spenser Nunes who moved closer to family in California to pursue a career outside of coaching. “Coach Nunes did a great job for us in all aspects, we owe a great deal to him for his efforts helping this program in our first year, in addition he assisted the University in bring back the intramural program on campus.” said Wetzel
