The University of Portland announced today that Eric Reveno will not return as men’s basketball head coach. Reveno recently completed his 10th season at Portland.

“I would like to thank Coach Reveno for his service, dedication and contributions to the University over the past ten years,” Athletic Director Scott Leykam said. “He has represented the University and the Athletic Department with great class on and off the court.”

“I am very grateful for the opportunity given to me here at the University of Portland and will always cherish the relationships built with players, faculty, and staff over the years,” Reveno said. “We strived to do things the right way, help players be their best, and win a championship. We were successful in two out of three areas. I believe the program is left on very solid ground and wish Portland tremendous success in the future.”

Reveno finished with a 140-178 overall record, including a 60-95 mark in West Coast Conference games. The Pilots finished the 2015-16 season 12-20 overall and 6-12 in WCC play.

Reveno led the Pilots to four CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) invitations during his tenure and had a three-year span where the Pilots averaged 20 wins from 2008-10. Reveno was named the WCC Coach of the Year in 2009 after leading Portland to back-to-back third-place finishes in the league standings. Off the court, the Pilots had 16 WCC All-Academic Team selections under Reveno.

Prior to his hiring at Portland, Reveno spent nine seasons on the bench at Stanford as an assistant and then associate head coach.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
