Back on April 12th, HoopDirt.com mentioned that former NBA player Doug Overton was involved with the job at Lincoln University (PA) (Daily Dirt – 4/12/16). It has now been confirmed that he is indeed the choice to succeed John Hill as the head coach at LU.
Overton, a Philadelphia native, was a second round pick (40th overall) by the Detroit Pistons in the 1991 NBA draft. He played in 11 NBA seasons for 8 different teams – including the Washington Bullets, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers. Overton has also been the head coach of the Springfield Armour (NBA D-League) and an assistant with the Nets and at St. Joe’s.
The official announcement is expected tomorrow.
