Western Kentucky head coach Rick Stansbury, in his first year with the Hilltoppers, recorded his 300th career win yesterday with a 69-54 victory at Florida Atlantic. Stansbury recorded 293 wins during his time as the head coach at Mississippi State (1998-2012 – 293-166). Prior to becoming the head coach at WKU this past spring, Stansbury had spent two seasons on the staff at Texas A&M.
In his 30 seasons as a head coach or an assistant coach, Stansbury’s teams have gone to the postseason 18 times, with Top 5 seeds in the NCAA Tournament in 2016 (3), 2004 (2), 2003 (5), 2002 (3), 1996 (5) and 1995 (5) and in the NIT in 2012 (4), 2010 (1), and 2007 (1).
The Hilltoppers continue their first C-USA road swing at FIU at 6 p.m. CT Monday in Miami.
