University of the Ozarks Head Men’s Basketball Coach David Ferrell has resigned from his position to pursue other professional opportunities in Northwest Arkansas, Athletics Director Jimmy Clark announced Monday.
Ferrell, who has been the head coach at Ozarks since the 2013-2014 season, guided the Eagles to the American Southwest Conference Tournament in his second season. The following year, he posted the program’s most wins in nearly ten years. During his four-year tenure, he coached two ASC Freshman of the Year and five All-Conference players. He coached the league’s leading scorer back-to-back seasons.
“I appreciate what Coach Ferrell has done for the program,” said Clark. “He left it in better shape than when he arrived. I wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Prior to Ozarks, Ferrell spent 21 years at West Fork High School. He currently serves as the President of the Arkansas High School Basketball Association.
A nationwide search will begin immediately for his successor.
