A quick update on a CRAZY day…
- South Dakota head coach Craig Smith backed out of the search at Drake. I have heard that Furman’s Niko Medved and Drake interim head coach Jeff Rutter are still in play.
- I have heard that both Michigan State assistant Dane Fife, and Vermont head coach John Becker have pulled out of the search at Duquesne. King Rice already bailed on this one. No idea where it’s headed next.
- Eric Musselman is staying at Nevada and not pursuing the Cal job anymore. A new name here is former NC State head coach Mark Gottfried. He joins Montana head coach Travis DeCuire, UC Davis head coach Jim Les, UC Irvine head coach Russell Turner, and former UCLA head coach Steve Lavin.
- I’ll have a Coppin State list published later tonight.
- The search at DIII Western Connecticut has been put on hold due to budget constraints. The University won’t know what they are doing with the position until July when the new budget is in place. They will not repost the position if it does open again and continue with the current pool.
