Bemidji State University head men’s basketball coach Mike Boschee announced the hiring of assistant coach Dustin Boll on Tuesday. Boll joins Beaver Men’s Basketball after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant at Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference program Winona State University.
Boll helped the Warriors advance to the NSIC Tournament Semifinals during his first season with the program in 2015-16. WSU averaged 13.5 wins, 10.5 in NSIC play, during Boll’s two seasons on staff. Two Warriors student-athletes were named to the NSIC Second Team between the two seasons.
WSU focused on on-court and off-court performance during Boll’s two seasons as 10 student-athletes earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court recognition. The 2016-17 team also earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, which is given to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Boll began his coaching career during the 2014-15 season as an assistant coach and coordinator of strength and conditioning at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis. His duties at Viterbo included recruiting, organizing and implementing team practices, designing and presenting scouting reports, video exchange, and individual player development.
In addition to his duties on coaching staffs, Boll is also active on the summer camp circuit, having worked as a camp coach at numerous camps including Syracuse University, North Dakota State University, Iowa State University, Marquette University and Duke University. In addition to camps, he has also coached on the grassroots circuit with the Minnesota Heat and Wisconsin Playmakers basketball organizations.
Boll earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sport science with a minor in nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2014. He also served as a student assistant coach at UW-L in 2013-14 where he assisted in recruiting, film editing and scouting report design. Boll completed his master’s degree in leadership education and sports management from Winona State in 2017.
