I can confirm that recently hired Wofford assistant Lionel Chalmers has departed the Terriers staff and taken a job with the Orlando Magic. The former Xavier standout was officially hired by Mike Young back on September 5th after wrapping up his professional playing career. Chalmers was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 33rd pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, and played 34 games for them during the 2004-05 season – he had been overseas since then.
I have also heard that current Director of Basketball Operations Will Murphy will be elevated to replace Chalmers in the interim. Murphy joined the Wofford staff in June after spending last season as the Director of Player Development at Wake Forest.
More on these moves when they become official.
