Bryn Athyn College men’s basketball head coach Justin Baxter has announced that Sean Kirk will serve as an assistant coach for the Lions during the 2017-18 season.
Kirk brings two years of collegiate coaching experience to Bryn Athyn after being an assistant coach at Franciscan University of Steubenville, his alma mater. He was responsible for recruiting, academic success, fundraising, and travel.
Last season, Kirk successfully recruited eight freshmen, the largest class in Baron history. The recruiting class helped lead Franciscan to a three-win improvement over the 2015-16 campaign. In the classroom, the Barons had six players in two years named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference Team, including two-time honoree Trevor Avery.
In the summers of 2015 and 2016, Kirk was as a lead recruiting coordinator for The Hoop Group. Kirk recruited student-athletes to participate in the camps, led workouts, organized guest speakers, served at digital media coordinators, and was site director at local gyms.
Kirk is a 2015 graduate of Franciscan with a bachelor’s degree in management. He was back to Franciscan to earn his MBA in 2016.
Bryn Athyn opens the 2017-18 season at the Widener Tip-Off for Autism Awareness on Friday, Nov. 17 against host Widener at 8 p.m.
