Colorado Mesa University Head Basketball Coach Andy Shantz announced that he will resign his position effective June 30, 2018. Colorado Mesa will begin the search for a new men’s basketball coach immediately.
Shantz began his involvement in CMU basketball as a student. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1997, Shantz starting working as a part-time assistant basketball coach. That grew into a full-time position over the years. Since 2013, he has served as the head coach for men’s basketball. Shantz was 72-70 as the Colorado Mesa head coach.
Shantz said he has enjoyed his time at Mesa and is very appreciative of the players he has coached over the years. He also thanked his colleagues in CMU’s Athletics Department for their guidance and expertise and thanked the community for its support of CMU basketball.
