The Athletics Department at Trinity has announced the resignation of head men’s basketball coach Brandon Nicol. Nicol has led the Trolls and mentored many student-athletes for the past seven years as well has been a dedicated colleague of the athletics department, which he served in a variety of different duties.  Nicol, along with his wife and children, plan to move to Iowa to be closer to family and to pursue a career opportunity there.

“Brandon is a passionate, hard-working, and creative-thinking coach,” said Athletics Director Bill Schepel. “Our department has benefitted from these gifts for the past seven years and I know that his players have been blessed by his mentorship.”

Nicol came to Trinity in 2011 after serving as an assistant coach at Colorado Christian University.  In his seven seasons with the Trolls he led the team to the conference tournament twice and implemented many positive initiatives with his team. He had players received All-Conference honors six times and had four NCCAA All-America selections. In addition he had a total of 33 players named as scholar-athletes. His teams have also received the CCAC Team Champions of Character Award twice.

Nicol was the 13th coach head men’s basketball coach at Trinity since its onset of the program in 1966. The College has begun a search to find his replacement with the position targeted to be filled this summer.
