The Bowdoin College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Felix Abongo as assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.

Abongo assumes the position formerly held by Scott Faucher, who was named head coach at Nichols College earlier this month. Most recently Abongo was the assistant coach at his alma mater, Clarkson University.

A 2016 graduate of Clarkson with a degree in Business, Abongo was a standout for the Golden Knights in his four years with the program. He was chosen as a Liberty League First-Team All-Star as a senior, as well as the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, and was picked as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star in both his sophomore and junior campaigns after being selected unanimously as a Liberty League All-Rookie Team member in 2012-13.

Abongo is the only player in program history to rank in the top 10 all-time in scoring (1304 points, 8th all-time), rebounding (678, 7th all-time) and assists (280, 8th all-time). He also is ninth all-time in blocked shots (53). He averaged 12.66 points per game and 6.64 rebounds per game over the course of 103 contests in four seasons with Clarkson.

Prior to stepping in as the top assistant for the men’s basketball program, Abongo worked in the Diversity Initiatives department as a program coordinator for student diversity and inclusion programs at Clarkson.
