A few things that I’ve heard…

  • The search at D2 Arkansas Tech is down to two with final interviews taking place this week. Both guys are current D2 head coaches with big-time ties to the state of Arkansas.
  • Eastern New Mexico has narrowed their list to eight (although at least one has dropped out), with phone interviews starting this week. Everyone on this list has been a head coach at some point in their careers. Some names that I’ve heard are former North Alabama head coach Bobby Champagne, New Mexico special assistant Craig Snow (former head coach at New Mexico Highlands), and two current NAIA head coaches. A former D1 assistant who had been a long-time JUCO head coach is also in the mix.
  • D3 Fredonia State (NY) is expected to make their announcement any day. I’ve heard that Rice assistant Mark Linebaugh is in the final group of 5. He played at Colgate and spent time as an assistant at Hobart (NY). I’ve heard that the other 4 are two current D3 head coaches, and 2 Upstate NY D3 assistants.
  • I’ve heard the list at Utah State Eastern is down to three. I have two different lists, but they both include former Idaho State and Southern Utah head coach Bill Evans. More when I can confirm the other two.
  • I mentioned this one on Twitter yesterday…D2 Urbana University (OH) is closing their door after the spring. A lot of players have reached out and are looking for new homes. Here’s their roster – see if you can help them out: https://uublueknights.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster
