Dippel added to MBU Men’s Basketball Staff

Missouri Baptist University Associate Vice President & Director of Athletics, Dr. Thomas Smith announced on Wednesday the hiring of Chase Dippel as assistant men’s basketball coach. Dippel, who comes to MBU after two years at NCAA DII Emporia State, will step in as second-year Head Coach Preston Ingram‘s lead assistant.

“I am beyond excited to get on campus and hit the ground running at Missouri Baptist,” Dippel said. “I can’t thank Coach Ingram, Dr. Smith, and President Ross enough for this opportunity. I know the University has a tradition of excellence, Coach Ingram has a terrific amount of motivation and we have an experienced base for the coming season. I am extremely excited to get this going.”

Likewise, Coach Ingram is elated to welcome Dippel to the Spartan family. With a coaching resume that includes four seasons as an assistant, Dippel will bring with him a wealth of recruiting ties from across the Midwest.

“I am excited to add Chase to our staff,” Ingram commented. “He is a perfect fit in so many ways. He’s a relentless recruiter and he has a great understanding of the game. He’ll connect to our players right away. Everywhere he has gone he has helped that program win! Coming from Emporia State under the guidance of Coach Doty, he will step right in and make in immediate impact on our program and continue the winning culture here at Missouri Baptist.”

Dippel will be plenty familiar with the ways of the NAIA after getting his start in the coaching ranks as a Graduate Assistant with the University of St. Mary (Kan.) in 2015. The Lindsborg, Kan. native spent two seasons with the Spires before moving up to become a full-time assistant with his alma mater, Ottawa University (Kan.).

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Dippel played four seasons as a guard for the Braves. His 1,354 career points rank him among the Top 10 on the OU MBB scoring list. He was a three-time All-KCAC selection. He also holds the OU career record for most three-pointers made.

Dippel graduated from Ottawa in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and History. He completed his Master’s in Education in 2017 from the University of St. Mary.
