Charleston native and University of Central Missouri Assistant Chris Richardson was introduced as the 11th Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Wheeling University in a press conference Monday morning. Richardson was listed as a finalist for the job last month by HoopDirt.com (Daily Dirt – 6/24). He reportedly beat out former Niagara head coach Patrick Beilein for the position.
Richardson had spent five seasons as a full-time assistant at Central Missouri and had been with the program for seven years overall working for two years as a graduate assistant coach. He came to UCM at the start of the 2014-15 season after spending two seasons as the head assistant at Delta State.
The Charleston, W.Va. native is a 2008 graduate of West Virginia University. He earned his master’s degree in Kinesiology from UCM with a concentration in Sport Management.
