Albion College Head men’s basketball coach Jody May has announced the hiring of Chris Coles as the assistant coach. Coles comes to Albion with a long list of coaching history, both at the high school and collegiate levels.
Most recently, Coles served as the assistant varsity coach at Dewitt High School, including a 21-4 record in 2018-19 and a trip to the Regional Finals.
Coles spent four years as the head coach at Olivet College and five seasons as an assistant on staff at Saginaw Valley State.
“I am so excited to be a part of the Albion College basketball program as well as a member of the Albion community,” said Coles. “Coach May is someone I have respected for many years and his coaching philosophy has resulted in his players becoming outstanding both on and off the court. I am grateful to be on his coaching staff and to learn from someone who I consider a great coach.”
Coles will coach alongside May, who is coming off a MIAA regular season title.
“We are extremely excited about the addition of Chris to our staff,” said May. “Chris comes to us with a tremendous amount of coaching experience and a vast knowledge of the game. His head coaching experience in the MIAA brings an understanding of what it takes to be successful in this challenging conference and will be an outstanding mentor for our student-athletes.”
Coles has begun his tenure with the Britons as they remain optimistic for a condensed season in 2021.
