SUNY Maritime Head Basketball Coach / AD Mike Berkun will depart to become the next head basketball coach at Buffalo State. He will replace long-time Bengals head coach Fajri Ansari, who retired after 19-seasons earlier this spring.

Berkun has been the head coach at Maritime for the past six seasons, and has also been an assistant at at Buffalo area schools Medaille, and Daemen. This past season, he led the Privateers to a 14-13 (9-7 Skyline) record. In 2022-23, he was named as the Skyline Coach after leading his team to a 16-11 (11-5) mark.
