Dee Frazier has announced the hiring of Cory Sloan and Chris Powers as assistant coaches for the Clinton College Men’s Basketball team.
Sloan joins Clinton after spending the past two seasons as the Associate Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Northwestern HS (SC). During his time at Northwestern, the program became one of the best high school basketball teams in the state. He also helped Northwestern HS win 23 games and conquer a region title in 2019.
“Cory is a rising star in this business said Frazier. “He is great with X’s & O’s and is an excellent manager of people. He is highly favored throughout the South Carolina High School League basketball community so he will be a major help when it comes to getting some homegrown talent through these doors.”
Sloan has had stints as the Head Freshman Boy’s Basketball Coach for Northwestern HS and Head Undergraduate Manager & Assistant Video Coordinator for the Winthrop University Men’s Basketball program.
Powers comes to Clinton from York Preparatory Academy where he served as an assistant coach under legendary coach Larry Davis. During his two seasons at York Prep, Powers managed a program that won 37 games. During the 2020-21 season, York Prep went 11-0 in AA Region IV while finishing #3 in the state.
Powers has also had assistant coaching stints at Nation Ford HS, South Pointe HS, Rock Hill HS & Clinton Junior College.
“Chris comes highly recommended from people I trust,” added Frazier. “He has won everywhere he’s been and his experience is needed.”
