Daily Dirt – 3/19/19

Still shaking my head about what St. Joe’s just did. Coach Martelli is one of the classiest guys in the game.

Here are a few things while we await word from Wake Forest….

  • Very early names at George Washington: Duke assistant coach Nate James, Bowling Green head coach Michael Huger, Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol, and former Georgetown head coach JTIII. Parker is running this search.

  • An interesting name at Fairfield is Louisville assistant Luke Murray. The Fairfield alum has also worked at Xavier, Rhode Island, Towson, Wagner and Arizona.

  • Speaking of Fairfield, I’ve heard that former Stags assistant Tyson Wheeler is involved with the open head coach spot at DIII Connecticut College. The former player at Rhode Island had been at Fairfield since 2010.

  • With Matt McCall jettisoning his entire staff at UMass, some interesting names are starting to surface as replacements. I’ve heard from multiple sources that Woodstock Academy (CT) head coach Tony Bergeron will be involved here. He has had a ton of success at the prep level churning out high major DI players.

  • I’ve mentioned Cal poly a few times (search update I + search update II). I’ve been told by multiple sources that San Diego State assistant Rod Palmer is also in play here. This season is his first at SDSU after spending 11 years at Long Beach State. This search could wrap up soon.
  • Only a few more days to join the HoopDirt.com March Madness Challenge presented by MyPlay. Full details HERE.
