Albany State University (GA) Director of Athletics Sherie Gordon today announced the appointment of a search committee, comprised of university representatives, supporters and community partners, to assist in a nationwide search for a head men’s basketball coach.
In establishing the committee, Gordon emphasized that the group’s goal will be “to identify an exceptional leader who is committed to the academic, athletic and social development of the students and will be a strong ambassador of the university, department, Albany and the surrounding communities.”
Additionally, Oliver Jones, former Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Albany State University for 28 seasons, has agreed to serve as an advisor to Gordon. During his time at Albany State University, the program earned six conference titles.
“This is an exceptional committee with a deep commitment to seeing the athletics program, and Albany State as a whole, achieve its full potential as Albany’s university said Gordon. “We look forward to the energy and leadership that the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach will bring in building on the current program foundation.”
The university expects to complete the search process in early June.
