According to a report by Jeff Goodman, and our own digging, Albany head coach Dwayne Killings is currently on paid administrative leave due to an investigation into an altercation involving a player.
The incident, which reportedly occurred after an early season game involved Killings allegedly striking one of his players. It is unclear at this time why the incident wasn’t immediately reported. According to Goodman’s report, Killings claims it was accidental.
Our sources indicate that multiple staff members are involved in the investigation as well.
The Albany Times Union reached out an Albany spokesperson who declined to comment. They also reported that no other UAlbany staff could be reached, and a message left for athletic director Mark Benson was not returned.
Killings was hired last March after spending three seasons as the associate head coach at Marquette. This past year, he led Albany to a 13-18 (9-9 AE) record.
