The Baruch College Athletic Department has named Andrew Wisniewski as assistant coach of the men’s basketball team.

Andrew is a former professional player who will bring years of experience to the basketball program at Baruch College.

From 2004 to 2012, he started at point guard for various international clubs in FIBA and in the Euroleague. He earned German League MVP honors in 2005, led Cibona to the Croatian League Championship in 2006, and was later named a FIBA Euro Cup All Star in 2007. He won another championship with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2010 in the Israeli National Cup and was named the MVP.

Since retiring in 2012, Andrew has been coaching young players hoping to learn the game. He created Hardcore Hoops In Staten Island, a youth basketball training program in 2013. He also coached the Metro Rens, a member of Nike’s Youth EYBL League, last year.

“I am thrilled to add a coach of Andrew’s caliber to our staff,” said Head Coach John Alesi. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his highly successful playing career both collegiately and professionally. In addition, he has a great mind for the game and is someone our student-athletes will learn a lot from.”

Andrew graduated from Centenary College in 2004 with a degree in physical education. He was a three year varsity starter, and finished top five in school history in scoring, assists, and steals. He was also named a Preseason All-American Candidate during his senior year.

He was a top 10 scorer in the nation for NCAA Division III for three straight years, averaging 22 points a game his senior year.

Upon graduating, Andrew was one of the top 60 seniors invited to Portsmouth Invitational in Virginia. That summer he was also invited to multiple NBA summer camps with the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings.
