Cardinal Stritch University’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Mike Jaskulski, has announced the hiring of new assistant coach and Milwaukee, Wisconsin native Anthony Houston to his coaching staff.
Houston joins the Stritch Wolves after heading the Bradley Tech High School boys basketball varsity team for the past three years. In 2014, he coached the Bradly Tech Trojans to a WIAA Division 2 Regional Championship.
Prior to head coaching Bradly Tech High School, Houston was a basketball consultant for multiple local area high school basketball programs including Marquette University High School, Dominican High School, and Whitefish Bay High School. His duties included scouting upcoming opponents, preparing scouting reports, and conducting walk-through practices with the teams.
He also is the owner of Houston Hoops, which provides private analysis and training of basketball skills for elementary, high school, college and NBA players.
“Anthony is a welcome and much needed addition to our staff,” stated Head Stritch Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Jaskulski on the hiring of Houston. “Our student-athletes will reap the benefits of his hire. His on campus presence will enhance their growth both on and off the court. I fully expect Anthony to positively impact all facets of our program, as well as, the Stritch campus community.”
Houston’s basketball experience also expands to the NBA. He was the Head Video Coordinator for the Milwaukee Bucks from 2002-2005 and again from 2008-2009 for Phoenix Suns. His responsibilities included breaking down game film to identify individual player’s strengths and weaknesses and prepare video analysis of upcoming NBA opponents and scouting tapes. He also was responsible for pre-game workouts, and drill practices of potential draft picks and free agents.
“Anthony has a wealth of basketball knowledge and experiences that cover all three levels of basketball; high school, college, and the NBA,” said Head Coach at the University of Portland, Terry Porter. “I was fortunate enough to have Anthony on two of my coaching staffs at the NBA level.”
