The Ashland University men’s basketball program announced Wednesday (Sept. 13) the addition of Max Pendery to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.
Pendery comes to Ashland after serving three seasons as the varsity assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Cincinnati Christian University.
“Max is a young coach that brings a ton of energy and enthusiasm to our team,” said head coach John Ellenwood. “As a staff, we knew he would hit the ground running. He is very sharp and brings a lot of fresh ideas to the table. We are very fortunate to have Coach Pendery on our team.
At Cincinnati Christian, Pendery assisted in every aspect of the men’s basketball program, including the preparation of scouting reports, recruiting, skill workouts and practice, film sessions, travel and team community service.
“Over the last three years of coaching in college basketball I had heard many great things about Coach Ellenwood, Coach Gardiner, the Ashland men’s basketball program, and Ashland University,” Pendery said. “I am elated to be working with such a well-respected basketball staff that works tirelessly for their players and the University.”
Pendery also managed every aspect of the JV program as the head coach, working on practice plans, scheduling, team events, recruiting and team building to give the student-athletes a quality experience with the men’s basketball program.
Pendery is a 2014 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in sport management.
The Eagles went 19-10 last season and won 12 of their final 16 games, advancing to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in program history.
