I mentioned back on 3/14 that the announcement to name John Shulman as the head coach at Central Arkansas could be done once his Alabama Huntsville team ends their season. Well, UAH lost in the first round of the NCAA D2 tournament on Saturday, and Shulman is expected to officially be introduced as the Bears head coach today.
Shulman has spent the past five seasons at UAH, where has put together a big-time 112-39 (.742) record and has won 21+ games in 4 out of 5 seasons. The only season under 20 wins was a 15-4 COVID season.
Prior to his time at the D2 level, Shulman was the head coach at Chattanooga (2004-13), where he went 145-146 (.498). While at Chattanooga, Shulman led the Mocs to two NCAA tournament appearances following a pair of Southern Conference championships. The second winningest coach in Chattanooga history, Shulman also won four SoCon North Division championships.
More on this move once it becomes official.
