Aurora University head men’s basketball coach Lance Robinson has resigned to pursue another opportunity after leading the Spartans to a three-year overall record of 54–30; a record of 43–17 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with one regular season conference title, two tournament titles and two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) appearances.
“Lance made tremendous contributions to Spartan Athletics both as a coach and a player,” said Jim Hamad, athletic director. “We appreciate his dedication to Aurora University student-athletes over the years and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Robinson was named head coach of Aurora University’s men’s basketball program in 2016 after several years as a full-time assistant coach for the Spartans. As a student, he played on the basketball team for four years prior to his coaching positions.
In his second season as head coach in 2017–2018, Robinson was named the NACC Coach of the Year. He was also named a First-Team All-Midwest Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Third-Team Midwest All-Region by D3hoops.com and First-Team All-Conference in the NACC.
