According to Loyola Marymount Athletic Director Dr. William Husak, Coach Bayno’s leave of absence is due to the stresses of being a head coach, and has nothing to do with his past alcohol issues. He is currently undergoing medical care to help with these issues and there is still no time table set for his return.
The statement from Dr. Husak does help to quell the substance abuse rumors and give some hope that Bayno may return to the sidelines this season. Max Good will continue to serve as the "Active" Head Coach as the Lions seek their first victory of the season.
