Bennett added to SUNY Canton MBB staff

Former SUNY Canton men’s basketball standout Kahdean Bennett has been added to the men’s basketball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, as announced by Head Men’s Basketball Coach Shiva Senthil on Friday.

Bennett begins his coaching career after playing for the Roos for four seasons from 2016-2020. He was the starting point guard for 2019-2020 team that won a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship and competed in the NCAA Tournament.

Bennett played in 75 games over four years for the Roos, finishing with career-bests of 99 points and 61 assists during his senior season. He rounded out his career with a pair of conference championships (NAC: 2019-20, ACAA: 2016-17). He also was a member of the team that made the first ECAC Tournament appearance in program history following the 2016-17 season.

“Kahdean was a fearless competitor and leader for our championship team last year,” Senthil said. “He embodies everything we believe and preach in our program. I am confident that Kahdean will be able to step in and immediately show our current players what it takes to be a champion. We are ecstatic to have Coach Bennett join our staff.”

Bennett hails from Bronx, NY. He graduated from SUNY Canton in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Bennett rounds out Senthil’s staff along with second year Assistant Coach Brandon Newsome and Faculty Athletic Mentor Brenda Miller.
