Bobb elevated to Head Basketball Coach at D3 Saint Mary’s

A familiar face in a new role for Cardinal Athletics. Nick Bobb, who has served as an assistant coach for the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team over the past two years, has been officially named the new head coach of the Cardinal program.

“I am honored to be named the next Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Saint Mary’s University,” said Bobb. “I want to thank Father Burns, our Athletic Director Brian Sisson and the entire search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity.”

“I’m excited to get to work.”

Under his guidance at Saint Mary’s, Bobb coached three All-Conference players and one Academic All-District player.

A 2015 Cornell graduate and four-year starter for the Rams, was promoted to top assistant coach in 2018 where he contributed to several successful campaigns and helped build a program.

He played a key role in guiding the Rams to the 2021–22 Midwest Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. There, developed efficient scorers with eight All-Conference players and recruited the first, second, and fourth leading scorers.

The Rams also earned MWC Tournament berths in 2019–20, 2016–17, and 2022-23 during his tenure.

From 2018-2023, Bobb also coached the Iowa Prep team and served as a clinician for TNT5 Basketball in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“We are thrilled to have Nick as our leader of the men’s basketball program,” said Athletic Director Brian Sisson. “Nick has a track record of building a program to a championship level and we are excited for him to take us to new heights.”

Bobb built a strong foundation with his players.

“His vision, attention to detail, and connection with our student-athletes stood out through the process,” said Sisson.

Bobb has a goal for success among his student-athletes.

“I am confident that we will continue to strive for excellence academically, athletically and in the community. “
