After a national search conducted by a selected group of Warren Wilson College staff and faculty, Director of Athletics and Adventure Sports, Joni Williamson, has announced the hiring of Dominique Boone. Boone, a Knoxville, TN native, has spent the past four years as the head coach and sports information director at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths, NY.
“I am extremely excited to announce Dominque Boone as our next head men’s basketball coach and sports information director. Coach Boone’s previous NCAA experience as an assistant coach, collegiate head coaching experience, sports information director experience, strong skill set, passion, knowledge of the sport, ability to connect with the campus community, and dedication to the student-athlete experience will truly help continue to grow the men’s basketball program. He exemplifies exactly what the search committee was looking for in hiring our next head coach. He will be a fantastic addition to the Warren Wilson Community and I look forward to seeing the men’s basketball program flourish under his direction,” stated Williamson.
Coach Boone stated, “I am honored, humbled and beyond blessed to be named head men’s basketball coach at Warren Wilson College and so excited to get started. I want to thank Joni Williamson and the search committee for this opportunity to lead a great group of talented young men and a program that is going in a new direction of NCAA DIII. I appreciate the winning culture that Coach Barringer has created both on and off the court and it’s time to get to work and build on that culture and success at WWC. The Boone family is very excited to become a part of the WWC Family.”
