Cabrera named Assistant Basketball Coach at Lebanon Valley College

Will Cabrera is set to return to Lebanon Valley College as a men’s basketball assistant coach, announced by head coach Brad McAlester. The former LVC assistant will assume his new roles on August 1.

Cabrera spent two seasons on the sidelines under Coach McAlester from 2015 to 2017. He helped the Flying Dutchmen to 32 wins and a pair of MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament appearances. Under his tutelage as a top assistant, Sam Light and Andy Orr combined to earn 11 all-region/area honors and four first-team all-conference accolades.

Most recently, Cabrera spent four seasons as the head coach at Mount Aloysius College. In 2018-19, Cabrera led the Mounties to their first winning season with 2012-13, the team’s first home playoff game in program history, and a first-ever conference tournament semifinal appearance.

Prior to his first stint at LVC, Cabrera was the head coach at Impact Preparatory in York, Pa. and he also spent time at the NCAA Division II level as an assistant at Mansfield for two seasons beginning in 2012. He also spent three seasons as an assistant on the sidelines at Messiah, his alma mater. At both stops, he also served as the recruiting coordinator.

Cabrera was born in Paraguay and spent his early years growing up and playing basketball in Bolivia. He graduated from Messiah with a bachelor’s of science degree in human development and family education in 2007 and played three seasons for the Falcons after transferring from the NAIA’s College of Notre Dame in California.
