Cal State Dominguez Hills adds Anderson as Assistant Basketball Coach

The Cal State Dominguez Hills men’s basketball program has added Tim Anderson as an assistant coach.

Anderson comes to Carson with a slew of experience. Recently, he spent the last two seasons as the lead assistant coach at MiraCosta College in Oceanside. Anderson helped the Spartans to a 16-12 overall record, a five-game improvement from the previous season, in 2019-20. His responsibilities at MiraCosta College included in-game coaching, practice planning, recruiting, scouting, academic monitoring and social media.

Prior to moving up to the junior college ranks, Anderson spent seven years as the head coach of the boys’ basketball team at Highland High School in Palmdale. The Bulldogs compiled a 134-59 overall record during his tenure, which included five league titles, two CIF-Southern Section semifinals appearances, and a CIF State Championship tournament appearance in 2019, the first in school history. He coached and developed five league MVPs and seven All-CIF players.

A Southern California native, Anderson played at Highland High School in Palmdale, breaking several 3-point shooting records in his career.  He played collegiately at Mt. San Antonio College. Anderson decided to step away from the game as a collegiate player when his mother became ill and passed away in 2008.

Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, both from California Baptist University.

“We’re excited to welcome Tim into the Toro family,” said head coach Steve Becker. “He has had a lot of success running his own program as a head coach in the high school ranks, as well as recruiting experience at the junior college level, working closely with a very close friend Ryan Frazer (CSUDH assistant coach 2015-17). He’s a man of character and will be a great mentor for our players. I’m eager to get to work with him, as he helps us work toward our goals of a championship.”
