Canisius head men’s basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that Jimmy Hall and Scott Galst have joined the Golden Griffin coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.
Hall joins the staff as an assistant coach to replace Bill Wuczynski, who was recently hired as the head men’s basketball coach at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill. Galst will serve as Canisius’ director of basketball operations.
“I am excited to add both Jimmy and Scott to our coaching staff here at Canisius,” Christian said. “Jimmy joins our staff having played the game at some of the highest levels overseas, and his ability to lead and coach our frontcourt players is something that will help us from a program development perspective. Scott brings a unique skill-set to our staff that will help us both on and off the court as we continue to build our operation. He is a basketball junkie and I am excited to be able to use his passion for the game to our benefit.”
Hall joins Christian’s coaching staff after an eight-year professional career overseas that saw him play professionally in Israel, Kosovo, Mexico and France. A four-year letterwinner at Kent State from 2013-17, Hall was a three-time All-MAC First-Team selection, where he scored more than 1,600 career points and grabbed 900-plus rebounds for the Golden Flashes. Professionally, he earned Eurobasket All-League honors on multiple occasions, was part of a championship team in Israel and helped Hapoel Afula earn promotion to Israel’s First Division.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Hall played his scholastic ball at the famed St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City, N.J., where he was coached by Hall of Fame head coach Bob Hurley Sr. As a junior at St. Anthony’s, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game to help the Friars to an undefeated 33-0 record, New Jersey Tournament of Champions title and No. 1 national ranking in both the USA Today Super 25 and ESPN Powerade Fab 50 polls.
Galst joins Christian’s staff after spending the two previous seasons as a consultant with the St. John’s men’s basketball program, where he worked on several film-related projects, including advanced opponent scouting, player development and offensive strategy. Additionally, he worked for the NBA as a senior statistical auditor, where he managed a team of 15 game-stat auditors to ensure efficient and accurate reviews of NBA game stats.
A 2022 graduate from Iona’s LaPenta School of Business, Galst served as a student manager and intern with the Iona men’s basketball program during the 2022-23 campaign when the Gaels won both the MAAC regular season and tournament championships. In that role, he was responsible for pre-practice set-up, statistics, scouting and assisting with on-court player development workouts.
Prior to joining the men’s basketball support staff, Galst worked as an operations intern at Iona, where he supported the athletic department in multiple roles from 2019-23, including in-game statistics keeping. He also spent one season on the official statistical crew for the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G-League.
