Carrington is a huge advocate for student-athletes achieving academic success, which was reflected in his 2013-2014 team being recognized with the NCHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team Award for the overall highest team GPA in North Carolina. In addition, during his tenure as Head Coach, his teams averaged thirteen players per season on the Academic All-Conference Team.
Early in his career, Carrington worked with the Raleigh Knights World Basketball Association and as Head Coach for the Garner Road AAU Men’s 17 & Under team, which was runner-up in the 2003 State Championship.

KTS Basketball Coaches’ Clinics feature guest speakers from the NBA, ESPN, collegiate coaches, and widely respected AAU and high school coaches. In addition, the KTS Basketball “Bridging the Gap” series was designed to foster working relationships between prominent NC AAU Coaches, High School Coaches, and Skill Trainers.
