Franklin to Vincennes
Southeastern Illinois College men’s basketball coach Todd Franklin has accepted the head coaching position at Vincennes University. An official announcement will be made on Wednesday (12:30 CDT). Franklin is 329-97 in 13 seasons at Southeastern.

My sources are telling me that Jimmy Voight will be named head coach at Bluefield State (WV). Voight spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Louisiana-Monroe. He has been a head coach at New Mexico Junior College, Eastern Oklahoma State, and Bacone. The official announcement is expected any day.

Vincennes U. rumor….
I’ve heard this from a few guys over the past few days – it appears that Vincennes University will hire Indian Hills head coach Jeff Kidder. He would replace David Ragland who became an assistant at Indiana State last month. Kidder lead his Indian Hills squad to 25-8 record last season.

I guess I was wrong when I blogged about Tracy Dildy’s hiring last week as being the last DI opening to be filled for the upcoming season. In a suprise move yesterday, UIC head coach Jimmy Collins announced his retirement. So there is now one more job to fill before we can close the books

A few quick items…. It sounds like Jerry Hobbie is the front runner for the open assistant spot at SMU. He spent the past three seasons at Houston. Former St. John’s assistant Fred Quartlebaum is also in the mix, but it sounds like it will go to Hobbie. Expect the official announcement after 8/1. DII
