Chicago State University officials announced today that men’s basketball head coach Tracy Dildy has been appointed university Interim Director of Athletics. He replaces former Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Denisha Hendricks, who recently resigned from the position. Dildy, a native Chicagoan, has extensive experience in collegiate athletics.
“I thank God for this great opportunity to serve as the Interim Athletic Director (at CSU),” said Dildy. “With the help of our coaching staff and administrators, I look forward to taking the athletic programs to new heights. My main focus is to ensure our students excel in all areas.”
Dildy is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), where he was inducted into the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1991 after playing two seasons for the school’s basketball team. Additionally, Dildy is a member of the Hall of Fame for both the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and the Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association.
“With 25 years of experience, Dildy possess the proven ability to lead and continue to build the department,” said CSU President Dr. Thomas Calhoun. “Mr. Dildy is reputed as an energetic and dedicated coach. His leadership skills and ability to rise to any occasion made him the right choice for the role at this time.”
Dildy has been the head coach for CSU men’s basketball since 2010. Prior to Chicago State, Dildy served as the associate head coach at UIC and has held several other coaching positions across the nation including: Auburn University, Ball State University, DePaul University, University of Alabama-Birmingham and the University of Mississippi.
Dildy will continue to serve as CSU’s men’s basketball head coach as he assumes the responsibilities of his newly appointed position.
