Following up on something that HoopDirt.com first mentioned back on 9/13 (DAILY DIRT). It’s now official that Chris Davis has rejoined the Central Michigan men’s basketball program as an assistant coach.

Davis served as the Chippewas’ video coordinator during the 2016-17 season. Last season, Davis was an assistant coach at Air Force.

Davis boasts a resumé that includes three decades of coaching experience, beginning at Western Michigan in 1986-87, when he served as a graduate assistant.

He has also worked as an assistant coach at Grand Valley State, Kent State, Western Michigan, Drake, Providence and UC Davis, where he helped the Aggies to the Big West Conference championship in 2014-15.

He was instrumental in recruiting and player development while serving under current CMU coach Keno Davis at both Drake and at Providence.

“Chris Davis is highly regarded in the coaching profession for his work ethic and his ability to develop student-athletes,” Keno Davis said. “He knows the state of Michigan, the Mid-American Conference and CMU. We are excited about the immediate contribution that he will make to our program.”

Chris Davis is a native of Jackson, Mich., and a graduate of Lumen Christi High School and Jackson Community College, from which he earned an associate’s degree. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s in sports administration from Western Michigan.
