Chris Ogden will be named as the next head basketball coach at Texas Arlington at a 12:00pm press conference tomorrow. He will replace Scott Cross who was unexpectedly fired last week by the school.
Ogden has been an assistant at Texas Tech for the past two seasons. He is a former Final Four team captain under Rick Barnes and a longtime member of Barnes’ basketball staff at Texas. Ogden also spent the 2015-16 season working for Barnes at Tennessee. He was at Texas when current UTA AD Jim Baker was an administrator for the Longhorns.
Cross, who went 72-33 over the past three seasons, just came to a settlement package with the school. According to the Star-Telegram, Cross will be paid $400,000 of the $762,000 left on the remaining two years of his contract. The settlement amount will not be reduced if he is hired by another school.
More tomorrow after the presser.
