Clemson Dirt…

Brad Brownell has two vacant spots on his staff at Clemson after contract of assistant coach Steve Smith was not renewed, and director of recruiting Lucas McKay became an assistant at UMKC. It sounds like he has found the replacement for both of those guys.

I have heard from multiple sources that Quinnipiac assistant Anthony Goins will replace Smith, and former Georgia assistant Phillip Pearson will take McKay’s spot.

Goins has been on Baker Dunleavy’s staff at QU for the past two seasons. Before that he spent time in the Ivy League at both Yale and Dartmouth. Goins also worked at Salisbury Prep (CT), and spent time with the Westchester Hawks (AAU).

Pearson was an assistant at Georgia under Mark Fox for nine seasons (2009-18). Prior that, he spent eleven years as an assistant to Mark Gottfried at Alabama, and served as the interim head coach there midway through the 2009 season.

An official announcement by Clemson is expected sometime this week.
