Clinton Joins Stonehill College Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Stonehill College has announced that Joseph Clinton has joined the men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach under Chris Kraus ’06. The announcement was made today by Kraus, who has completed four years as head coach at his alma mater.

“Joseph is a fantastic addition to our staff,” said Kraus. “He is an extremely hard worker and will be a great fit for our players and culture. As a point guard throughout his playing career, he’s been an extension of the coaching staff on the floor and has learned from some very experienced coaches. We are really excited to work with him.”

Clinton joins the Stonehill coaching staff after serving as a volunteer assistant coach under his father, Joseph Clinton, Sr., for the 2016-17 season at his alma mater, Dominican College in Blauvelt, New York. The Chargers posted a 19-12 record overall, including 12-7 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) – also a part of the NCAA Division II East Region, reaching the CACC Championship game.

Clinton rose to camp coordinator for Dominican’s Summer Basketball Camps, serving on the camp staff for five years. He created Joey Clinton Basketball, a skills training business with focus on individual and small group instruction for middle school, high school and collegiate basketball players in 2015. Clinton gained valuable coaching experience as head coach of the Empire State Storm U-16 AAU program for two seasons and two summers at Hoop Mountain Elite Prospect Camp in Rhode Island.

Clinton, who is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University, is a 2016 graduate of Dominican, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He was a four-year letterwinner for his father, serving as captain as a junior and senior. The point guard finished his career ranked fifth in Chargers history with 436 assists, including a career-high 166 as a sophomore when he ranked in the top 20 nationally, and tenth all-time with 109 career games played. Clinton earned CACC All-Academic Team honors three times and was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma honor society.
