Iona head men’s basketball Tim Cluess has not been on the bench for the Gael’s first two games of the season, and did not travel with the team on their current trip to Florida.
According to Iona officials, Cluess is “not officially on medical leave. He is not with the team however as he attends to a health matter.”
Associate head coach Tra Arnold has been coaching the team in the interim. The Gaels are off to an 0-2 start, and will face Stetson tonight in the MAAC – ASUN Challenge at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.
Cluess is currently in his tenth season at Iona, where he owns a 199-108 record. He has led Iona to nine straight postseason tournaments, and captured the MAAC Tournament Championship five times (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019).
