College of Idaho head men’s basketball coach Scott Garson has announced that his top assistant, Colby Blaine, has been promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2016-17 season.
“Colby is involved in every aspect of our basketball program, from coaching to recruiting to fundraising and beyond,” Garson said. “I truly feel like we have a partnership in running this program and we are all very fortunate to have him back with us for another season.”
Blaine, a Boise native, joined the C of I program prior to the 2014-15 season after five successful years as an assistant coach at the College of Southern Idaho. During his first year with the Yotes, he helped the squad win their second-straight Cascade Conference regular-season and postseason title – advancing to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II National Championships.
“He is such an outstanding coach and mentor to our players, Garson said. “There is not a decision that I make without consulting with him. Colby has been as much a part of the success we have had during my tenure at the College of Idaho as anyone.”
