Georgia Southwestern State University Director of Athletics Mike Leeder announced today that head men’s basketball coach Aaron Coombs has resigned, effective April 4, 2025.

“I want to thank Aaron for all of his hard work during the last six seasons in guiding our men’s basketball program,” Leeder said.

Coombs joined GSW in June of 2019 after serving as head men’s basketball coach at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. In 2021 he guided the Hurricanes to their first-ever appearance in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game, and that team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2014 season.

A national search for the next head men’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
