The University of Texas at Tyler Director of Athletics Dr. Howard Patterson announced head men’s basketball coach Jamon Copeland has resigned.

“We would like to thank Coach Copeland for his commitment to his student-athletes and UT Tyler over the past six years,” Dr. Patterson said.

During his time at the helm of the Patriots, Copeland amassed a 72-82 record which includes the second, third, fourth-best seasons in program history. In 2017-18, he led UT Tyler to 17 wins and twice guided the Patriots to 15-win seasons. During his first season, the team finished with a 15-12 record before earning the program’s first-ever postseason victory with a win in the quarterfinal round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.

A national search for the new UT Tyler Men’s Basketball head coach will begin immediately.
