Crafton Tabs Kevin Ryan and Rob Tyler as Assistant Coaches at Nyack

Nyack Men’s Basketball Coach Jason Crafton announced today the additions of Kevin Ryan and Robert Tyler to the coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Kevin Ryan recently completed six seasons as the head coach at Raritan Valley Community College (NJ) amassing 100 wins during his tenure.  He also led Raritan to two 20-win seasons and five consecutive post season appearances.  Ten of his former players continued on to compete at the NCAA Division II level including former Warrior Great Jaron Smith.  Coach Ryan will assume the role of Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator with the Warriors this season.

Robert Tyler returns to the hillside after working in the professional world.  The former Warrior Great played two seasons at Nyack (2015-2017).  As a senior he averaged 16.5 points & 4.4 rebounds per game.  Tyler holds the Nyack NCAA-era single game scoring record with a 43-point outburst that occurred on December 30th, 2017 against the University of DC.   Tyler graduated in 2017 with a 3.0 GPA and a degree in Business Administration.  Coach Tyler will assume the role of Assistant Coach / Director of Player Development with the Warriors this season.

“We welcome Kevin and Rob and we are excited about the impact they will have on our program,” said Coach Crafton.  Kevin is an experienced coach that possesses an elite level of passion for the game. I’ve watched him build the Raritan Valley program over the last six years and we have established a strong relationship during that time.  Recently he displayed interest in joining the NCAA ranks and his talents will be utilized effectively here.  Rob was a great player here and always showed an interest in coaching.  He has a likeable personality and knows what we are striving to build.  His experience as a Warrior combined with his desire to excel in this profession will allow for a smooth transition.”
