Augustana men’s basketball head coach Cody Schilling has announced the hiring of Travis Voigt as an assistant coach.

Voigt has spent his entire coaching career in professional basketball and arrives to Augustana after two seasons with the Long Island Nets of the G-League.

“”We are extremely excited to have Coach Voigt joining us here at Augustana,” said Schilling. “His knowledge and passion for the game of basketball is truly inspiring. He has experience being an assistant coach, defensive coordinator, director of basketball operations and head of player development at the NBA G-League, NBA Summer League and professional overseas levels.”

“He deeply cares about building relationships with players off the floor, through film work and on the court training. His experience and knowledge will undoubtedly make us better. I am fired up to add Travis and his family to the Augustana Men’s Basketball Family.”

With the Nets, Voigt coordinated the defense. He implemented and installed defensive concepts, strategies and style of play. Voigt ran postgame defensive breakdowns and scouted opponents while putting together game plans. In the 2022-23 season, the Nets finished with the top-ranked defense in the G-League and earned back-to-back trips to the Eastern Conference Finals in Voigt’s tenure.

He spent the 2021-22 season as director of basketball operations with the NBA G-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce. He originally joined the Skyforce staff ahead of the 2019-20 season as a basketball operations assistant and served in the same role the following season.

Voigt previously spent two seasons (2017-19) overseas as a player development coach for the Shanxi Flame, Shaanxi Wolves and the Hebei Win Power in China.

Prior to beginning his career in basketball operations and player development, he played four collegiate seasons at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Sioux Falls in 2017.
