D2 DIRT: Angelo State’s Boone set to take D1 job

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I alluded to this one earlier in today’s DAILY DIRT – I can now confirm it.

D2 Angelo State University head coach Cinco Boone will resign after seven seasons and become an assistant at Texas Arlington. Boone and current UTA head coach Greg Young were together in the late 2000’s at JUCO Jacksonville College (TX).

During his tenure at ASU, Boone has compiled a 130-67 (.660) record, including a 20-10 (9-6 LSC) record this past season. Boone was elevated to head coach at Angelo State after his former boss Chris Beard departed for Little Rock. Boone also worked for Beard at D3 McMurry (TX).

Boone will replace Riley Davis who has reportedly departed for a spot on Mike Schwartz’s new staff at East Carolina.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
