Following-up on my TWEET from Tuesday…
I can confirm that D2 Claflin University (SC) will name Brion Dunlap as their new head men’s basketball.
Dunlap spent twelve seasons as a D1 assistant – he worked at Mount St. Mary’s for seven years before moving on to Holy Cross for five seasons. Dunlap also spent one season as an assistant at Winston-Salem State, followed by a strong run as the head coach at NAIA Harris-Stowe State University. During his time at HSSU, went 81-56 (.691), and won three conference championships in five seasons.
Dunlap will replace Dr. Ricky Jackson, who was released earlier this spring after eight seasons on the job.
An official announcement is expected later today.
