Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)
I have heard from multiple sources that D2 Salem University (WVa) intends to hire University of Charleston (WVa) assistant Brett Rector as their new head men’s basketball coach. He would replace Robert Ford, who was named as the head coach at NAIA Saint Xavier University (IL) at the beginning of June.
Rector was in his second stint as an assistant at UC last season, after previously working there from 2014-18. He has also served as an assistant at NAIA University of Pikeville (KY), and as a women’s assistant at D1 Eastern Kentucky. Rector spent the 2019-20 season as the head coach at Parkersburg South High School (WVa).
From what I’ve heard, the other finalists for the job were, UNC Asheville assistant Neil Dixon (a WVa native), Notre Dame College (OH) assistant Duncan Williams, and WVU Tech assistant George Wilmore.
This one is expected to be made official shortly.
