Just a week after signing a contract extension, Zach Settembre is out as the head basketball coach at D2 New Mexico Highlands. Settembre’s dismissal was part of a massive shake-up at the college which included the President being placed on leave, as well as at least two other high ranking college officials either being fired or placed on leave as well.
Settembre took over at NMHU last spring following a stint as an assistant at Tarleton State. This past season, he led his team to a 13-19 (11-9 RMAC) record. It was the school’s first winning record in RMAC play since the 2019-20 campaign.
Prior to his time with the Cowboys, Settembre was the head coach at Tallahassee Community College (2019-2021) and an assistant at Coastal Carolina, New Mexico State, and twice at Tarleton State.
